Campaign summary
In 2005, the Queensland road toll was 330 and more than 6000 people were hospitalised from road-related injuries. In response to this, the Queensland Government hosted the Queensland Road Safety Summit in 2006. After the summit, a number of road safety initiatives were announced to help combat the rising road toll. The first phase of communication about summit initiatives was the 'Because enough is enough' road safety brand campaign.
The objectives of the 'Because enough is enough' campaign were to:
- create an understanding of the initiatives that were implemented to save lives
- engender community support for improving road safety
- keep road safety top of mind and put it on the social agenda
- plead for Queenslanders to take care.
The campaign consisted of television, radio, press and outdoor advertising, along with a dedicated website, song and mobile phone ringtone. Collaterial materials were also produced—bumper stickers, notepads, pens and lanyards.
